What Vanuatu fund share means
The fund share is the part of the fund programme (CIIP) amount that remains the applicant's property: $50,000 out of $165,000. It is invested in an approved fund for 5 years.
After 5 years the fund buys the share back under its own documents and returns $50,000. For a family of up to four, the net programme cost after the buy-back is $115,000.
The refund is a fund condition; there is no state guarantee. We promise neither returns nor early exit: the term is 5 years.
A simple example
A family paid $165,000 into the fund. After 5 years we arranged the buy-back, the fund returned $50,000, and the programme cost $115,000.

05 / Key facts
Key facts
01Share in the CIIP fund programme
$50,000 out of the $157,000 payment
The family pays $157,000 in a single payment against the fund programme invoice, through a licensed agent. Of this, $50,000 becomes the applicant's share in a government-approved fund; the rest is non-refundable.
02Term and buy-back
The fund buys the share back after 5 years
The fund itself buys the share back from its reserves under its own documents, not the government. We do not promise early exit: the term is 5 years.
03Net cost of the programme
$115,000 for a family of up to four
The family pays $157,000 plus the $8,000 due diligence fee, $165,000 in total. Once the $50,000 share is returned, the programme costs $115,000.
04Return and guarantees
$50,000 comes back, no yield promised
The buy-back is a condition of the fund and is not guaranteed by the government. We do not promise any return above the share amount.
Common mistakes
Expecting the share to earn a return
After 5 years the $50,000 share amount is returned, and we promise nothing above it. Plan on the net cost of $115,000 for a family of up to four.
Assuming the share comes back after 4 years
The term is 5 years and we do not promise early exit. Do not count on this $50,000 in the next few years.
Saying the government buys the share back
The fund buys the share back from its reserves under its own documents. The government does not guarantee the return.

How to prepare
Decide whether you are ready to wait 5 years. If not, the option without share return is $20,000 cheaper. Ask a tax adviser about tax on the refund.

Frequently asked questions
After 5 years. The fund buys back the share and returns $50,000.
The fund, from its reserves and under its own documents. The government does not buy it back or guarantee the return.
We do not promise a return. The share amount of $50,000 is what comes back.
We do not promise early exit; the term is 5 years. Choose the fund only if you will not need this $50,000 sooner.
A government-approved fund. Currently these are the coconut oil fund (CNO Future Fund, renamed Vanuatu Future Fund in 2026) and the cocoa fund (Cocoa Sustainable Fund).
Families of four or more: $157,000 covers up to four people, and the net cost after buy-back is $115,000. A single applicant is better off with the DSP contribution route, while couples and families of three should decide whether they can leave $50,000 in the fund for 5 years.
