Key facts

01Role D in the CIIP form

02Who qualifies

An adult child in full-time study or a parent

An adult child studying full-time, or the applicant's dependent parent. Children under 18 go under a different role - C.

03Documents

The full adult set

A police clearance certificate, a second ID document, a CV and a medical certificate - the same as the main applicant and spouse.

04Field D15 and signature

Student or Retired, signed in three places

In field D15 a student writes Student, a parent Retired or their job title. The dependant signs the form personally, in three places.

Common mistakes

Confusing role D with child role C.

Role C is for children under 18, role D for dependants aged 18 and over. An adult student goes into the D fields.

Forgetting the police clearance for an adult dependant.

A dependant aged 18 or over provides a police clearance like every adult. Order it early, together with the second ID, CV and medical.

Leaving the occupation field D15 empty.

A student writes Student, a parent Retired or their job title.
