01 / About the program

How the Saint Kitts and Nevis programme works

Saint Kitts and Nevis launched citizenship by investment in 1984 - earlier than anyone in the world. The programme is run by the Citizenship by Investment Unit, which since October 2024 has been a separate legal entity with its own board of governors. Four investment options, the decision is taken by the state, and filing is only through a licensed agent.

01

A contribution or property - different logic for the money

The contribution to the state fund (SISC) from $250,000 is non-refundable, but it is the shortest and most predictable route. A share in an approved developer project from $325,000 costs more, but the property stays your asset and can be sold no earlier than seven years later.

02

The contribution covers a family of up to four

The main applicant and up to three dependants are covered by the base contribution of $250,000 - there is no surcharge for them. From the fifth person each dependant aged 18 and over adds $50,000 and each child under 18 adds $25,000. The programme sets no limit on the number of dependants.

03

The money is paid after approval

The investment is paid after the approval-in-principle letter, not on filing. Until then you pay for due diligence, the state fees on filing and the preparation of the file; for property, the deposit and escrow arrangements depend on how the deal is structured. First the state checks the applicant - and only then does the main money move.

04

Who the programme is currently closed to

The programme currently does not accept applications from citizens of Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, Iraq, North Korea and Russia. The restriction follows citizenship, not place of residence, and the list changes, so we confirm availability for your passport in writing with a licensed agent before any documents are prepared and before any costs are incurred.

03 / Why people apply

Why people obtain the Saint Kitts and Nevis passport

Saint Kitts is not chosen for speed - there are faster programmes. It is chosen where the reputation of the document and European destinations matter: it is the oldest programme in the world, and unlike Vanuatu its passport works today with Schengen and the United Kingdom.

European destinations without a visa

Schengen for 90 days out of 180 and the United Kingdom with an ETA - the main reason people choose Saint Kitts rather than the faster programmes of Oceania. We go through the EU position on the Caribbean programmes before the contract is signed.

When the money has to stay money

The property option from $325,000 turns an expense into an asset: no earlier than seven years later the property can be sold, and to a buyer who is obtaining citizenship through the programme only if the property is separately approved for the programme. The state does not buy it back and does not guarantee the price - it is an ordinary market.

A large family in one application

The base contribution covers up to four people, and there is no limit on the number of dependants. From the fifth person the SISC contribution grows by $25,000-50,000 for each, while for property the fees after approval of $10,000-15,000 are added for every participant. The gap narrows, and from seven participants we calculate both options.

Companies and bank accounts

A second passport widens the range of jurisdictions and banks willing to consider an application. It does not remove compliance and does not hide the first citizenship: banks assess documents obtained through investment programmes separately.

Dependants up to the age of 30

Adult children can be included up to the age of 30 if they study full-time at a recognised institution and are fully supported. That is wider than most programmes, where the limit is 25.

A plan B tested for 40 years

The programme has run since 1984 and survived several waves of tightening. For a decision taken once in a generation, the age and stability of the programme are an argument in themselves.

04 / Who can be included

Dependants in one application

The number of dependants in an application is not limited, but each must meet the conditions of their category and pass the state checks. Open a row - the conditions for that category are there.

  • Aged 18 or over
  • No criminal record, criminal investigation, refusal of citizenship or unresolved visa refusals
  • No bankruptcy in the last 10 years and no activity that could damage the reputation of the Federation
  • A confirmed lawful source of funds and origin of capital
  • Applications from citizens of Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, Iraq, North Korea and Russia are not accepted
  • A registered marriage
  • The law of the Federation recognises a partner of the opposite sex as a spouse
  • Included in the same application as the main applicant
  • Included together with the parents
  • Including children from previous marriages
  • From the age of 16 they go through due diligence; police clearances follow the agent’s personal checklist
  • Studying full-time at a recognised institution
  • Fully supported by the main applicant
  • The date on which age is determined is confirmed by the authorised agent
  • The parents of the main applicant and the parents of the spouse
  • Live with the applicant and are fully supported by them
  • Children aged 18 and over with confirmed physical or mental disabilities
  • There is no age limit for this category
  • Brothers and sisters are not included in the application

05 / Cost

What citizenship of Saint Kitts and Nevis costs

Two main options. The investment is shown large, and below it the subtotal at published rates: the investment, due diligence and the state fees. The BRIDGES fee, agent services, translations and travel are not included. Both figures are recalculated for the composition you set above.

The contribution covers the main applicant and up to three dependants. Each further person: $50,000 for a dependant aged 18 and over, $25,000 for a child under 18. The contribution is non-refundable. Due diligence and the fees in the breakdown are the published part of the payments; the full list of state payments under SISC we confirm with an invoice from the authorised agent.

from$325,000

The investment threshold does not depend on the number of applicants - only the fees grow with the composition. So for a large family the gap with the contribution narrows. The property stays your asset and can be sold no earlier than 7 years later. The state does not buy it back and does not guarantee the resale price.

A preliminary calculation based on the official schedule of fees of the Citizenship by Investment Unit and the BRIDGES personal budget, verified on 09.08.2026, biometrics rates on 23.10.2026. Children under 18 are counted as under 16: from the age of 16 due diligence of $7,500 is added, the bank check rises from $50 to $100 and the biometrics fee rises to the adult rate. The biometrics fee including passport issue is calculated at the CIU rates: $2,500 for the main applicant, $2,000 for the second adult, $1,300 for a child under 16; the CIU does not publish a rate for the third and further adults, so the calculation uses the second-adult rate, to be confirmed with the agent. The BRIDGES fee, apostilles, translations and medical certificates are calculated separately. The calculation is not a decision of a state authority.

All countries on a Saint Kitts and Nevis passport

155 destinations visa-free, with an eTA or with a visa on arrival

Where you are admitted without a visa, where the permit is arranged online, where the visa is issued at the border and where a consular visa is needed - with the length of stay given for each country.

The basis and the risks: on 15 June 2026 Ireland introduced a visa regime for citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis. On 25 June 2026 the European Commission sent Saint Kitts and Nevis and four other Caribbean states letters proposing that citizenship by investment programmes be wound down by 1 June 2028; if they refuse, suspension of the visa waiver with the Schengen area is under consideration within the reinforced mechanism. We have to say it plainly: keeping the visa waiver for the whole life of the passport cannot be guaranteed, and a decision should not rest on it alone. Entry rules are set by the receiving states and may change at any time.

Preliminary Due Diligence before the contract

Fill in a questionnaire about yourself, your activity and your sources of funds. BRIDGES compliance officers will run a preliminary check and identify which circumstances may raise questions when the application is reviewed or the funds are transferred. You do not need to attach documents at this stage.

Start the check
  • No obligations
  • Confidential
  • NDA on first request
What information you will need

The questionnaire has eight sections. The key ones are your activity, the source of funds and legal circumstances.

  1. Applicant
  2. Citizenship and residence
  3. Professional activity
  4. Source of funds
  5. Banks and transfer of funds
  6. Public status and sanctions
  7. Legal circumstances
  8. Program and family members

What you receive

  1. 1
An assessment of sanctions and reputational risks

We check information about you and your business against sanctions lists and open sources, including media and online publications. We explain which circumstances may affect the review of the application.

  2. 2
An assessment of the sources of funds

We look at how your capital was built and where the funds for the program will come from. We tell you which documents will be needed to confirm their lawful origin.

  3. 3
A check of the planned payment

We assess from which account, through which banks and to whom the funds will be transferred. We identify possible restrictions in advance and tell you what to prepare to reduce the risk of a delay, return or block of the payment.

After you send the questionnaire we will contact you by phone or messenger. The assessment is preliminary: the decision on the application is made by the competent authorities of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and on the payment by the banks involved.

11 / Our role

Why people obtain Saint Kitts and Nevis citizenship with us

We have worked since 2004. In that time more than 8,000 families have come through us. The Caribbean programmes are one of our key directions, and we run Saint Kitts as a programme with its own limits.

01

Filing through a licensed agent

The official procedure expressly prohibits direct filing: the application is accepted only from an agent on the CIU list. We work through licensed agents and check an agent’s status against the official list - which is also where those who have lost their licence are published.

02

A straight assessment before the start

First we check whether the programme is open to your citizenship and biography - and only then take on the work. If we see a material risk of refusal, we say so plainly and propose an alternative. We do not take on cases we are not confident in.

03

The risks are set out before the contract

The EU position on the Caribbean programmes, the mandatory biometrics and the seven-year holding period for a property - we go through these at the consultation, not after signing. You will not hear promises from us that the state never made.

04

The full cycle, including life after the passport

Renewing the document, biometric registration, opening an account, registering a company, adding family members, registering children by descent. We stay with the client after the passport is issued.

12 / Team

Who runs the Saint Kitts and Nevis citizenship process

A Saint Kitts application is run not by a “sales manager” but by a permanent team: the programme lawyer, a compliance specialist and a family coordinator. You know them all by name from day one.

TimelineOfficial decisions

What has changed in the programme

  1. 14 October 2026

The Saint Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Unit completed the first stage of an independent review by Deloitte, covering internal controls, applicant due diligence, risk management and IT systems. The second stage is an audit of the Unit's financial statements under International Standards on Auditing. For applicants this is a further argument for the programme's transparency.

  2. 25 June 2026

The European Commission sent Saint Kitts and Nevis and four other Caribbean states letters proposing that citizenship by investment programmes be wound down by 1 June 2028. If they refuse, suspension of the visa waiver with the Schengen area is under consideration.

  3. 15 June 2026

Ireland introduced a visa regime for citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis. This does not affect visa-free entry to the Schengen area or the United Kingdom: Ireland is not part of the Schengen area.

  4. 14 April 2026

Mandatory biometric enrolment was launched for new applications. Everyone who obtained citizenship through the investment programme, children included, must complete biometric registration by 31 July 2027 - after that date old-format passports are not accepted for international travel.

  5. 8 January 2026

The Federation government announced that a physical presence requirement will be added to the programme. The number of days, the start date and the way presence is counted have not been published; the CIU pages do not yet set a mandatory period of residence. We confirm the conditions on the filing date with a licensed agent.

  6. 1 October 2024

The Citizenship by Investment Unit became a separate legal entity with its own board of governors. Applicants are also checked by the Continuing International Due Diligence unit (CIDD) of the ministry responsible for national security.

17 / Questions

Answers to common questions

The programme currently does not accept applications from citizens of Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, Iraq, North Korea and Russia. The restriction follows citizenship, not place of residence, and the list changes, so we confirm availability for your passport in writing with a licensed agent before any documents are prepared and before any costs. If Saint Kitts is closed to you, at the consultation we will find a programme that is open.

SISC is a non-refundable contribution to the state fund, $250,000 for an applicant or a family of up to four, with due diligence and state fees paid separately. The Public Benefit Option has the same $250,000 threshold, but fees are paid after approval for the spouse and dependants, so the total for a family is higher; we give the exact PBO figure from the authorised agent’s invoice. Property from a developer is a share in an approved project from $325,000. A private house is from $600,000. With the last two options the property stays your asset and can be sold no earlier than seven years later, but recovery of the amount invested is not guaranteed.

The $250,000 contribution covers the main applicant and up to three dependants - for up to four people in the application the total grows only through screening and fees. After that each dependant aged 18 and over adds $50,000 to the contribution and each child under 18 adds $25,000. Everyone aged 16 and over goes through due diligence: $10,000 for the main applicant and $7,500 for each dependant. The programme sets no limit on the number of dependants.

For a single applicant the difference in the investment is $75,000, and with the property fee after approval ($25,000 for the main applicant) it is $100,000, before transaction costs. That is the price of the investment staying your asset; recovery of the amount on resale is not guaranteed. For property the fees grow with every participant, while the SISC contribution grows only above four people, but faster: by $25,000-50,000 for each. So for large families the gap narrows, and from seven participants we calculate both options.

After the approval-in-principle letter, not on filing. Before approval you pay for due diligence, the state fees on filing and the preparation of the file; for property, the deposit and escrow arrangements depend on how the deal is structured. This is a matter of principle in the programme: first the state checks the applicant, and only then does the main money move.

Yes. An interview is mandatory for every main applicant - it is conducted by an independent firm commissioned by the CIU or by CIU officials. The CIU may call dependants aged 16 and over for an interview if necessary. We confirm the procedure and the format with a licensed agent as at the date of filing.

No. The official procedure states expressly that the application is filed only through an agent from the list of licensed agents; the Citizenship by Investment Unit does not accept documents directly. The CIU website also publishes the list of agents whose licence has been withdrawn - the choice of agent is worth checking against the official list.

At present the passport gives visa-free entry to the Schengen area for 90 days out of 180 and to the United Kingdom with an ETA electronic authorisation. At the same time the European Union’s position on the Caribbean programmes is tightening: in June 2026 the Commission proposed that five countries, Saint Kitts and Nevis among them, wind their programmes down by 1 June 2028. Keeping the visa waiver for the whole life of the passport cannot be guaranteed, and we do not build the only argument on it.

From 14 April 2026 biometric enrolment is mandatory for new applications, and from 1 September 2026 a passport is issued only after it. Everyone who obtained citizenship through the investment programme, children included, must complete biometric registration by 31 July 2027 - otherwise the passport will stop being accepted for international travel. The CIU has published the biometrics fee, which includes passport issue: $2,500 for the main applicant, $2,000 for the second adult, $1,300 for a child under 16. It is included in the calculation on this page; the rate for the third and further adults we confirm with the agent.

The CIU states a processing time of 120-180 days from confirmation of filing. The whole path from the first consultation to the passport is longer: preparing the file comes before filing, and the investment, biometrics and passport issue come after approval - at the start of the new system the CIU puts passport production at 4-6 weeks. We do not guarantee the date of the finished passport; the stage-by-stage schedule for your family is set in the cost estimate. That is longer than Vanuatu, but Saint Kitts is a programme with Schengen, the United Kingdom and a property option that stays your asset.

Yes. Saint Kitts and Nevis permits dual citizenship and does not require you to give up your current passport. The CIU pages currently set no mandatory period of residence, but the government has announced a physical presence requirement - we check the conditions on the filing date with the agent. It is worth checking separately how the law of your current country of citizenship treats a second citizenship.

Yes, by a separate application with no new investment. The CIU publishes a fee of $7,500 for a child under three born after the main applicant’s registration, plus the standard fees for due diligence, processing, the bank check, the certificate and the passport. We confirm the child’s eligibility and the fee with the agent. We handle the child’s certificate and passport. The passport itself has a fixed term: from 1 September 2026 it is issued only after biometric enrolment.

The CIU allows the main applicant to be sponsored by a parent or a child: the relationship must be proven, and the sponsor goes through a separate check and provides their own documents, including a 12-month bank statement and a bank reference. We confirm other forms of payment by a third party with the agent. We agree the payment structure before filing so that the transfer passes the checks: we have handled such cases, and one of them is set out in the selection below.
