What Dependent students 18-25 means

Dependent students 18-25 are an applicant's children who can get Cyprus permanent residence with the family. The conditions: aged 18-25, unmarried, studying at a university abroad and financially dependent on their parents.

The student files their own application with its own €500 fee, but needs no separate investment. €10,000 is added to the parents' required income for each student.

Adult children who are not studying or not dependent cannot get PR this way: they need their own investment.

A simple example

A family's 22-year-old son studies at a university in Germany and lives on his parents' money. He files his own application (€500), and his parents prove €10,000 more income. No second apartment is needed.

05 / Key facts

Key facts

01Who qualifies

Aged 18-25, unmarried, studying at a university abroad

The student lives on the parents' money, and this is proven with documents. A university certificate, police clearance and birth certificate are needed.

02Own application

€500 fee + €70 for ARC

The student files a separate form rather than joining the parents' form. Fees for their application are paid separately from the family one.

03Investment

No separate investment needed

The student gets PR on the basis of the parents' investment. There is no need to buy a second property for them.

04Parents' income

+€10,000 a year per student

The parents prove €10,000 more income for each student. For example, a couple with a student son needs €75,000 a year.

Common mistakes

Adding the student to the parents' form

A student aged 18-25 files their own form with a separate €500 fee. The family form covers the applicant, spouse and children under 18.

Forgetting to add €10,000 to the income

For each student, the parents prove €10,000 more. Work this out before filing, or the income will fall short.

Assuming any adult child qualifies this way

This applies only to unmarried dependent students aged 18-25. An adult child who is not studying needs their own investment.

How to prepare

Get a fresh enrolment certificate from the university and prepare proof that the student is dependent. If your child is close to 25 or finishing studies, file earlier: conditions are checked on the filing date.

What we do for you. We check whether your adult child qualifies as a student, prepare their separate application and recalculate the family income.
