What Investment in a Cyprus company means
Investment in the share capital of a Cyprus company is option C of the 4 investment options for Cyprus PR under the Migration Department criteria.
The money goes into the capital of a new Cyprus company or increases the capital of an existing one. The company must operate in Cyprus, have an office there and employ at least 5 people. No VAT applies to this investment.
This option suits entrepreneurs who are already building a business on the island. The applicant may be a director of the company that received the money, and the family still needs housing in Cyprus, owned or rented.
A simple example
An entrepreneur opens an IT company in Cyprus with an office in Limassol and a team of 6. He pays €300,000 into its capital from his account abroad, becomes a director and rents a flat for his family. With the company documents we file the PR application.

05 / Key facts
What matters
01Amount
€300,000
The same bar as for property. The contribution must go into the company's capital, not into a loan or equipment.
02Company
Office and 5+ staff
The company must really operate in Cyprus, not just be registered there. A shell with no people or office does not qualify.
03Director
Allowed
The ban on employment in Cyprus does not stop you being a director of the company you invested in.
04Every year
Proof
The Migration Department expects annual documents showing the company investment is kept.
Common mistakes
Investing in a company with no office or staff
An empty company will not pass. You need a real business in Cyprus with at least 5 employees.
Forgetting about housing
Option C does not cover housing. To file you need a title, a paid contract or a lease in Cyprus.
Sending the money through a third party
The capital must come from abroad from the account of the applicant, the spouse or their company.

How to prepare in advance
Before investing, check that the company can keep an office and at least 5 employees in Cyprus for as long as you hold PR. If not, a property option is safer.
