A free PDF guide — an investment from €600,000

A guide to residencein Andorra

A European jurisdiction with income tax of up to 10%: the investment stays your asset, the deposit with the state comes back, and 90 days a year in the country is enough. We set out both ways to invest and the real budget.

01 / The essentials first

What to know about the status before the calculation

Four things that decide the budget and what the resident undertakes.

  1. The investment stays yours

€600,000 is placed in assets in the principality — property or financial instruments. It is not a contribution to the state: the asset remains in your ownership.

  2. The deposit comes back

On top of the investment an interest-free deposit is lodged with the Financial Authority: €50,000 for the applicant and €10,000 for each dependant. It is returned when the status ends.

  3. 90 days a year in the country

Presence is required, but lightly: a quarter of the year is enough. This is not a full move, but nor is it a status you can simply hold.

  4. Tax lower than in Europe

Income tax in Andorra runs to 10%. Tax residence is settled separately and depends on actual presence and the centre of your interests.

02 / The budget

What your family needs

Choose the way to invest and the family: the deposit is counted per dependant.

03 / Two options

Property or financial assets

The threshold is the same; the liquidity, the costs that go with it and the speed of placing differ.

The values were checked against the official material on 12.08.2026. Only the rows for which there is no official wording are marked separately.

05 / The order of work

How the process runs

First the asset and the deposit, then the documents and the filing: the order bears on the timings.

  1. Assessing the situation

The nationality, the family, the source of funds and your plans for being in the country.

  2. Choosing the asset

Property or financial instruments: the timings, the tax and the liquidity all follow from it.

  3. The transaction and the deposit

Placing the investment and lodging the returnable deposit with the Financial Authority of Andorra.

  4. The pack of documents

A medical examination in the country, a certificate of no criminal record, insurance, proof of income and of housing.

  5. Filing and the decision

The application to the immigration service, the biometrics, the consideration of the case.

  6. The card and the renewals

A permit for 2 years, renewable. The whole process takes 2-4 months.

07 / The check

What is examined before the grant

The origin of the capital, the absence of a criminal record, the medical examination and housing in the country.

  • The source of funds

A clear chain showing where the capital came from: examined before the transaction and when the deposit is lodged.

  • No criminal record

A certificate from the country of nationality and the countries of residence, apostilled and translated.

  • The medical examination

Taken in Andorra: part of the required procedure for the applicant and the family.

  • Housing and insurance

The medical examination is taken in Andorra: it is part of the required procedure for the whole family.

The money is locked in the asset€600,000 plus the deposit

The investment and the deposit are held for the whole life of the status: the exit is planned in advance.

Tax residence is separateThe card does not create it
