Client story
Client's background
Where they started
The client ran a successful business in Kazakhstan, and the capital for purchasing Greek real estate was earned there - transparently, with taxes paid. Greece's Golden Visa through real estate suited him both as a status and as a way to secure part of his capital in an EU asset.
Why the standard route did not work
The complexity lay in context: funds from Kazakhstan, like from several CIS countries, are subject to enhanced due diligence by Greek banks. This is not an assessment of the individual, but a general approach: the origin of capital from such jurisdictions is examined more deeply, and the payment route is reviewed more carefully.
What BRIDGES had to solve
There was no substantive problem - the money was clean, the business was real. However, enhanced compliance meant that a superficial "I have a business in Kazakhstan" was insufficient. We needed to confirm the source of funds at the document level and demonstrate a transparent banking chain from the Kazakhstan business to the Greek seller.
Why a standard answer would not do
The client came to BRIDGES to navigate enhanced due diligence smoothly: compile comprehensive source of funds documentation and structure the payment route so the Greek bank would have no remaining questions.
My funds come from my Kazakhstan business, they're clean, taxes are paid. But I knew that scrutiny from Kazakhstan is stricter, and I was afraid they'd barrage me with questions. Igor and his team took a thorough approach: compiled complete documentation - where the money comes from, how it was earned, how it flows to Greece. We passed enhanced due diligence without stress, processed the payment, and obtained the residence permit. The key was not to brush it off as "just business," but to document everything thoroughly.
