Evidencing the originof capital
We build a documented history of the origin of funds and wealth for banks, investment programmes, cross-border transactions and other regulated procedures.
When capital has been built lawfully but its history is spread across companies, accounts, transactions, assets and documents from different years and jurisdictions, the client explanation alone is rarely enough.
BRIDGES GLOBAL analyses the origin of the capital, identifies the missing links in the evidence chain, arranges the confirmations that can lawfully be obtained and puts together a structured Source of Funds / Source of Wealth dossier for the specific task.
- We work only with capital of lawful origin
- Confidential. The preliminary assessment comes before the main work
01 / The service
We evidence the origin of capital with documents, not with a story
A bank, an investment programme or another regulated party assesses not how convincing the client sounds, but whether the origin of the funds can be evidenced with documents and whether separate operations connect into a consistent economic history. For complex capital a single document is almost never enough. It has to be shown where the initial asset came from, how it grew, how funds moved between companies and accounts, and where the specific amount used today came from.
Source of Funds
Evidence of the origin of the specific funds used for a particular operation: an investment, a property purchase, funding an account, a transfer or participation in a programme.
Source of Wealth
The documented history of how the client wealth was built: business, investments, real estate, dividends, inheritance, sale of assets and other lawful sources.
Evidence chain
We connect documents, legal events and the movement of funds so that the origin of the capital can be verified step by step.
Compliance dossier
We build a structured set of materials for the requirements of a specific bank, programme or other organisation.
02 / Situations
When evidence of the origin of capital is required
The work starts from the client task and from the requirements of the party that will review the documents.
A bank account or a large transfer
The bank has asked for evidence of the origin of funds, of wealth or of particular incoming payments before opening an account, processing an operation or continuing the relationship.
An investment programme
The lawful origin of the capital used for the investment has to be evidenced: for residence, permanent residence, citizenship or another regulated programme.
A property purchase
A bank, notary, lawyer, developer or another party asks for evidence of the origin of the funds used to acquire the property.
Sale of a business or of a shareholding
A significant part of the wealth came from entrepreneurial activity, from the sale of a company, of shares or of corporate assets.
Capital built many years ago
The company has been sold, accounts closed, former banks or counterparties have changed, part of the documents sits in archives and the history has to be reconstructed from lawful sources that are still available.
Several sources of capital
The wealth was built from business, real estate, investments, dividends, inheritance and other sources across different countries.
Digital assets
Part of the capital relates to crypto assets, and the origin of the initial funds, the history of acquisition, holding and subsequent movement has to be documented as far as it is possible in the specific situation.
03 / Sources of capital
The sources of capital we analyse
Each source calls for its own evidentiary logic and its own set of documents.
Entrepreneurial activity
Income from a current or former business, distribution of profit, dividends, sale of goods and services.
Sale of a company or of a shareholding
Agreements, corporate documents, settlements between the parties, banking movement of funds and documents evidencing ownership of the asset before the sale.
Real estate
Acquisition of the property, the source of the initial funds, ownership, rental income, the subsequent sale and receipt of the proceeds.
Investments
Securities portfolios, investment accounts, transactions, dividends, coupons and disposal of assets.
Salary and professional income
Employment relationships, contracts, tax documents and the movement of funds.
Inheritance and gifts
Documents of the estate or of the gift, the origin of the property on the side of the transferring party and the subsequent movement of the assets.
Family capital
Transfer of lawfully built funds between family members with documentary evidence of the economic and legal basis.
Crypto assets
Analysis of the available history of acquisition and movement of assets, of fiat entries and exits, of exchange documents and of other available confirmations.
04 / Scope of work
What BRIDGES GLOBAL does
From the first analysis to a structured dossier and support through the review.
Analysis of the capital history
We identify the main sources of wealth, the key transactions, companies, accounts, assets and jurisdictions.
Map of the origin of funds
We build the chronological and economic chain of how the capital was formed and determine which elements are already evidenced and which require further proof.
Review of existing documents
We check the available corporate, banking, tax, contractual and property documents for completeness and internal consistency.
Search for lawful confirmations
We determine which information and documents can additionally be obtained through existing archives, state and corporate registers, banks, former counterparties, notaries, accountants, auditors and other lawful holders of information.
Additional confirmations
Where required, we coordinate admissible valuations, professional opinions, confirmations from counterparties, translations, notarisation, apostille and other documents.
Building the dossier
We assemble the materials into a single structure and accompany them with an explanatory memorandum, a chronology and appendices.
Preparing for the review
We adapt the set to the known requirements of the specific recipient and identify in advance the questions that are likely to arise during the compliance review.
Ongoing support
We coordinate the answers to further questions and the delivery of additional confirmations within the agreed project.
05 / Evidence chain
What an evidence chain looks like
| Supporting document | |
|---|---|
| Setting up the business | Certificate / company accounts |
| Accumulated profit | Financial statements |
| Dividends or sale of a shareholding | Dividend resolution |
| Credit to the bank account | Bank statement |
| Investment or acquisition of an asset | Purchase agreement |
| Sale of the asset | Sale agreement |
| Current capital | Current statement |
The purpose of a dossier is not to collect the largest possible number of documents, but to create a continuous and verifiable link between the origin of the capital and the funds the client holds today.
06 / Documents
Which documents can evidence the origin of capital
The contents of a dossier are individual and depend on the source of the capital, the period in which it was built and the requirements of the recipient.
Corporate documents
Company registration documents, registers of members, corporate resolutions, documents on the ownership of shares.
Financial reporting
Financial statements, audited accounts, accounting records and other admissible evidence of business results.
Tax documents
Returns, tax computations, confirmations of tax paid and other documents of the relevant periods.
Banking documents
Statements, payment documents, confirmations of receipts and transfers, archived information where it is available.
Agreements
Agreements on the sale of a business, of shares, of real estate and of other assets, loan agreements and other legal grounds for the movement of funds.
Property documents
Purchase and sale agreements, register extracts, valuations, confirmations of settlements and of income from the property.
Investment documents
Broker statements, portfolio statements, trade confirmations and documents of investment institutions.
Succession documents
Certificates, decisions, notarial documents and other materials of the estate proceedings.
Professional confirmations
Admissible opinions of auditors, accountants, valuers, notaries, lawyers and other specialists where they are required and carry evidentiary value.
07 / Missing documents
When part of the documents is lost or no longer available
For capital built many years ago, the absence of part of the original documents is not unusual. The company may have been liquidated, the bank closed or merged into another bank, the documents destroyed once the mandatory retention period expired. In such projects we first determine what exactly has to be proven, and then look for lawful alternative sources of confirmation.
- State and corporate registers
- Bank archives
- Tax authorities
- Accountants and auditors
- Notarial archives
- Court records
- Former counterparties
- Property registers
- Archived corporate documents
BRIDGES GLOBAL does not create fictitious documents, does not backdate documents and does not construct a false history of the origin of capital. If a material element cannot be evidenced to a sufficient standard, the client is told before the dossier is submitted.
08 / Honest limits
The tasks we do not take on
The work is possible only in relation to capital of lawful origin.
Funds of unlawful origin
We do not provide services aimed at giving a lawful appearance to funds or assets of criminal origin.
Fictitious documents and transactions
We do not create false agreements, confirmations, certificates, corporate resolutions or any other documents.
Concealing the beneficial owner
We do not build structures intended to mislead a bank, a regulator or another obliged party as to the actual owner or the controlling person.
Circumventing sanctions
We do not provide services aimed at the unlawful circumvention of applicable sanctions or of other mandatory restrictions.
An unreliable history
We do not replace missing evidence with an invented explanation. If the evidence base is insufficient, this is recorded before submission.
09 / Pre-check
Sanctions and compliance risk check before the project starts
Before the main work it is necessary to establish whether the result is achievable in principle, taking into account citizenship, residence, ownership structure, PEP status, sanctions factors, the industry of the business and the geography of its operations. This avoids spending time and money on a complex dossier where a known restriction makes the intended operation impossible or highly unlikely.
10 / What you get
The result is a structured Source of Wealth / Source of Funds dossier
The format of the set depends on the task, but the logic of the project stays the same: facts, evidence, chronology and a clear link between them.
Executive Summary
- A short description of the client, of the capital structure and of the purpose of the dossier.
Source of Wealth Narrative
- A consistent description of how the wealth was built, with references to the supporting documents.
Source of Funds Statement
- An explanation of the origin of the specific funds used in the operation in question.
Chronology
- A chronology of the key events, companies, assets and operations.
Ownership Structure
- The structure of ownership of the companies and assets.
Funds Flow
- A diagram of the movement of funds between the main stages.
Document Index
- A structured list of the appendices and confirmations.
Supporting Documents
- Banking, corporate, tax, contractual and other documents.
11 / Cost
The cost is set after the first analysis of the capital history
Two clients with the same amount of capital may require entirely different volumes of work. The cost depends not on the size of the wealth as such, but on the complexity of the evidence chain, the number of sources of capital, the number of companies and jurisdictions, the availability of archived documents and the requirements of the organisation that will carry out the review.
The period over which the capital was built
The longer the history, the more operations and documents may have to be analysed.
The number of sources
Business, real estate, investments, inheritance and other sources call for different evidence.
The number of jurisdictions
Each country has its own registers, documents, languages and procedures for obtaining confirmations.
The state of the documents
A complete existing archive and an almost absent historical record require different volumes of work.
The requirements of the recipient
A bank, an investment programme, a notary or another organisation may apply a different depth of review.
After the first analysis we fix the scope of work, the cost and the stages of the project before the main work begins.
12 / How it works
Stages of preparing the dossier
Preliminary assessment
We receive a short description of the capital, of its main sources, of the countries involved and of the final task. Result: we understand whether the task is achievable in principle and how much further work it takes.
Audit of the capital history
We go through the companies, assets, transactions, accounts and available confirmations. Result: a map of the evidence chain.
Evidence plan
We identify the existing documents, the gaps and the lawful alternative sources of information. Result: an agreed list of works.
Collecting and obtaining confirmations
We arrange the available documents and the additional confirmations.
Building the dossier
We prepare the narrative, the chronology, the source of funds and source of wealth schedules and the appendices.
Legal & Compliance Review
We check the internal consistency of the materials and the questions the recipient is likely to raise.
Submission and support
We hand over the agreed set and coordinate the answers to further requests until the relevant procedure is completed.
13 / Confidentiality
Confidentiality and handling of sensitive information
Projects on the origin of capital involve bank statements, tax documents, corporate structures, transactions and other sensitive information. Access to the project materials has to be limited to the specialists directly involved in the work. Documents are shared with external lawyers, translators, auditors and other specialists only to the extent required for the relevant task and within the applicable requirements.
Privacy policy→14 / Why BRIDGES
Why BRIDGES GLOBAL
International coordination
One project may involve documents from several countries, banks, companies and registers. BRIDGES GLOBAL coordinates these elements within a single task.
Work with the full capital history
We analyse not only the latest bank statement, but the economic and documentary link between the initial source of the wealth and the funds held today.
Legal and compliance logic
The dossier is built around the questions that arise when the origin of funds and wealth is reviewed.
Support until the procedure is completed
The project does not end with a folder of documents. Within the agreed scope we handle further questions from the recipient and the need to add confirmations.
16 / Questions
Answers to common questions
Source of Funds describes the origin of the specific amount used for a particular operation. The evidence required depends on the source of the funds and on the requirements of the organisation carrying out the review.
Source of Wealth describes how the client wealth was built overall: through business, investments, real estate, inheritance or other lawful sources.
Sometimes yes. It depends on which documents have survived and which lawful alternative confirmations are available through banks, registers, tax authorities, counterparties and other sources.
First we determine which facts have to be evidenced. We then check the state, corporate, banking, accounting, tax and other archives that still exist.
It depends on the circumstances and on the evidence available. The fact that a settlement was made in cash does not remove the need to evidence the lawful economic basis on which the funds were received.
In a number of cases an evidence chain can be built from the history of acquisition, bank transfers, exchange data and other available information. Feasibility is assessed case by case.
No. The final decision is taken by the bank or another organisation in line with its own compliance rules and risk appetite. BRIDGES GLOBAL is responsible for preparing and supporting the agreed set, but cannot take the decision for the reviewing party.
Tax consequences depend on the specific operations, on the period and on the jurisdiction. If a tax question comes up during the project, it has to be analysed separately by a specialist in that field.
The timing depends above all on the complexity of the history and on the availability of confirmations. The main delays usually relate to obtaining archived documents from third parties.
Projects involve sensitive financial and corporate information, so access to documents and their transfer have to be limited to the specific task and to the applicable data protection requirements.
