01 / About the program

How the Greek nomad visa works

The status is set out in article 68 of the Migration Code. First the consulate issues a national visa for up to a year, and before it expires a two-year residence permit is arranged — on the same conditions.

A visa for up to twelve months

The national visa is issued by the consulate for the place of residence. The law requires an answer within ten days and completion of the procedure in a single application.

Income of €3,500 a month

For employment the sum is counted net, after tax in the country of work. For a spouse 20% is added and for each child 15%.

The employer must be foreign

The applicant signs a declaration that they will not provide services to an employer established in Greece. That is the key condition of the status.

Then a residence permit for two years

Before the visa expires an application is filed for a type “Ι.8” permit. It is issued by the secretary of the decentralised administration for the place of residence.

How the process works

STEP 1

Checking the employment and the income

We go through where the employer or the clients are registered and whether the income is evidenced at €3,500 a month net.

The employment documents

The employment contract, services contracts or documents on your own company outside Greece.

There are no restrictions on citizenship. The practical difficulty is evidencing the receipts and legalising documents from a foreign employer; we go through that part before filing.
