Where they started
A Russian family wanted Greek Residence Permit and encountered the same barrier: Golden Visa applications cannot be accepted under Russian passport. A second passport from a non-sanctioned country was required, and the family chose São Tomé and Príncipe.
Why the standard route did not work
São Tomé and Príncipe is a new citizenship-by-investment program (recently launched), a legitimate non-sanctioned option with an affordable family package. Like Vanuatu and Nauru, it is processed remotely. For Greece, a São Tomé and Príncipe citizen is an applicant from a country without Golden Visa restrictions.
What BRIDGES had to solve
We confirmed the logic to the family and compiled a package for all members - spouses and children. São Tomé and Príncipe proved to be a budget-friendly route for the family.
Why a standard answer would not do
Upon obtaining São Tomé and Príncipe passports, the family proceeded with the standard process: real estate investment meeting Greek thresholds and Golden Visa application, with children included as family members. As a result, the family obtained Greek Residence Permit, unavailable under Russian passport.
We wanted Greek Residence Permit for our family, but it is impossible under Russian passport. BRIDGES suggested a second passport; we chose São Tomé and Príncipe - a new program, affordable family package, entirely remote. We obtained passports, applied for Golden Visa as São Tomé and Príncipe citizens, children were included as family members. The residence permit was granted. We were opened a path that was closed under our passport.
