Client story
Client's story
Where they started
The client's source of funds was inheritance—legitimate and real. However, verification through standard channels was impossible: state registries in the country of origin were closed or inaccessible, and required data was not officially available. The funds were legitimate, yet the usual registry certificate did not exist.
Why the standard route did not work
Due diligence requirements, however, remain unchanged: the source of funds must be proven, and "I have an inheritance but cannot obtain a certificate" does not suffice. A trap emerged: the source is legitimate, but proving it through standard means is impossible due to registry inaccessibility. Giving up was not an option—alternative proof methods had to be explored.
What BRIDGES had to solve
Therefore, we bypassed the inaccessible registries through alternative documents. We gathered everything that confirmed the inheritance through other means: notarial acts and a will, if preserved by the client or with the notary; bank documents evidencing receipt of inherited funds; court or other official documents regarding the inheritance matter; confirmations from competent authorities. From these sources, we constructed a complete and compelling inheritance narrative—one that verified the source even without an extract from the closed registry.
Why a standard answer would not do
At BRIDGES, the client came to us with this dilemma: verifying legitimate inheritance for Antigua's due diligence when state registries are closed—through alternative documents.
My funds are inheritance—everything is legitimate—but registries in my country of origin are closed, and I could not obtain the standard certificate. Yet due diligence requires proof. Dmitry did not give up: we bypassed the registries by gathering notarial acts, a will, bank documents evidencing receipt of inherited funds, and papers from the inheritance proceedings. From all of this, we constructed a complete inheritance narrative. Due diligence saw a verified source even without an extract from the closed registry, and I obtained my passport. The solution was found through alternative documents.
