01 / The essentials first
What to know about the programme before you count
Four things that decide the tier and the budget of taking part.
- A horizon of up to twenty years
Three tiers: 5, 15 and 20 years. It is the longest status among the programmes based on means — with no yearly renewals.
- The deposit stays yours
The fixed deposit is placed with a Malaysian bank in your own name. After a year you may use up to 50% of it for housing, treatment and the children’s education.
- The presence requirement is mild
90 days a year in total. That lets you keep a base in another country without losing the status.
- The housing is bought after approval
The programme calls for the purchase of property at a minimum price set by the state — but only once the application has been approved.
02 / The tiers
What each tier requires
Choose the tier and the family: we will show the deposit and the attendant costs.
03 / Three tiers
Silver, Gold and Platinum
The tiers differ in the deposit, the term of the pass and the extent of the rights.
The values were checked against the official material on 12.08.2026. Only the rows for which there is no official wording are marked separately.

05 / The order of work
How taking part runs
The deposit is placed after approval rather than before filing — an important point for planning.
- The tier is chosen
Silver, Gold or Platinum: the term of the pass and the extent of the rights follow from the size of the deposit.
- The file is prepared
Evidence of income and assets, certificates of no criminal record and medical documents for the whole family.
- The application is filed
The case goes through an authorised agent to the responsible department and is considered over several months.
- The approval
A letter of approval setting out the terms of participation follows a positive decision.
- The deposit and the medical
The fixed deposit is placed with a Malaysian bank, and the medical examination and the insurance are arranged.
- The pass and the housing
The MM2H pass is issued and the property bought at the state’s minimum price. The whole process takes 4-8 months.
07 / The check
What is examined in the file
The origin of the funds, financial soundness, health and the make-up of the family.
- The source of the funds
The origin of the deposit is evidenced by documents: the bank and the department follow the chain.
- The income and the assets
Financial soundness is shown: the deposit is not the only thing looked at.
- A clean record and health
Certificates for everyone in the application, and a medical examination in Malaysia.
- The make-up of the family
A spouse, children and parents go into the application; the requirements on each are checked separately.
The case goes through an authorised agent: the programme makes no provision for filing on your own.
08 / The limits
What to take into account in advance
Five limits that bear on the budget and on the rights of a participant.
The deposit is locked50% may be used
Half the deposit stays untouched for as long as the status runs.
Work is limitedThis is not a work visa
What employment is possible depends on the tier and needs separate permits.
The rules have changed beforeThe terms have been revisited
The programme has been reshaped more than once: the sums and the tiers are checked afresh before filing.
The property is compulsoryAt the state’s minimum price
After approval a home is bought at the minimum price set by the state.
Not a path to citizenshipA long status, but a temporary one
MM2H gives you a stay but leads to neither permanent residence nor a passport.
09 / Your team
Who runs your case
The work is led by specialists who deal with the authorised MM2H agents.
