A guide to citizenship of Grenada:terms, cost and the E-2 visa

A practical guide to the two options. We work through the contribution to the fund of $235 000 and an investment in property from $270 000, the structure of the payments, including brothers and sisters, the mandatory interview and what the E-2 visa to the United States really gives.

Preliminary information is not a guarantee of approval. Whether the programme is available and the final cost are determined once the applicant has been checked.

01 / The essentials first

What you need to know before you consider Grenada

Grenada is not chosen for the price — on money it sits in the middle of the Caribbean range. It is taken for two things: the right to apply for the E-2 investor visa to the United States, and the widest family in a single application. Both come with reservations, and it is better to work them through before paying.

  1. The E-2 visa to the United States

The only Caribbean programme that gives the right to apply for the E-2 investor visa — through the treaty between Grenada and the US of 3 March 1989. The right to apply is not the visa itself: it is issued by the US consulate under its own rules.

  2. Two options

A contribution of $235 000 to the National Transformation Fund for an application of up to 4 people, or a share in an approved project from $270 000 with a sale after 5 years.

  3. A wider family than the neighbours

The application may include the spouse, children, parents and grandparents, and also brothers and sisters. From the fifth participant an extra payment applies: from $25 000 for a child to $75 000 for a brother or sister.

  4. A «from» quotation — and we explain why

The programme does not publish some of the fees officially. On the published tariffs it comes to $242 850, while agents put it at around $244 500. We name the difference plainly instead of collecting it later.

02 / A preliminary calculation

What the process may cost for your family

Set out the family — the calculation shows both options and the structure of the payments. We count on the published tariffs of the programme and by the same formula as the BRIDGES GLOBAL personal quotation. Parents and grandparents under 55 and aged 55 and over are counted separately: the extra payment differs, $50 000 and $25 000.

The NTF or property: what the difference is

The amounts are taken from the BRIDGES GLOBAL personal quotation on the published tariffs of the programme and checked on 9 August 2026. Where the programme does not publish the fees, or where there is no official wording, we say so plainly rather than substituting a convenient figure.

The values were checked against the official material on 09.08.2026. Only the rows for which there is no official wording are marked separately.

04 / What the pack contains

What is inside the guide

A client pack goes out with the guide. It begins with the E-2 visa — what it gives and what it does not, because that is what people come for most often and where expectations run highest.

  • The E-2 visa to the United StatesWhat it really gives and what it does not: the requirements, the term and how it differs from a green card.
  • What it costsThe figures by family size and an explanation of why the amount is given as «from».
  • The fund or propertyA difference of around $96 000 and the logic of choosing between the options.

05 / How the work runs

From the preliminary assessment to the passport and the E-2 visa

CBI Grenada states a processing time of 3-4 months. In BRIDGES practice the road from the first consultation to the passport takes 6-9 months — below is the sequence of the work and who answers for what.

  1. A preliminary assessment

We check the citizenship, the family and the applicant’s background. The programme does not accept applications from certain citizenships, so we confirm that it applies before any expense. No documents are needed at this stage.

  2. Choosing the option and the calculation

We compare the contribution to the fund of $235 000 and an investment in an approved project from $270 000. If there are more than 4 people in the application we separately work out the order in which relatives are included — the extra payment depends on it.

  3. Preparing the file

We assemble the documents and the evidence of the source of funds, and arrange translations, apostilles and medical certificates. The application is filed through a licensed agent.

  4. Due diligence

Due diligence covers the applicant and every participant aged 18 and over — $5 000 per person. Children under 18 are not checked.

  5. The mandatory interview

Every applicant aged 18 and over is interviewed, at $1 000 per person. It is held remotely — there is no need to travel to the country for it.

  6. The decision and the investment

The decision is taken by the Citizenship by Investment Committee. After approval the contribution is paid or the property transaction is completed.

  7. The passports and the next step

Once the passports are issued you can move on to a separate task — applying for the E-2 investor visa to the United States, if that was part of the plan.

07 / The check on the applicant

What has to be prepared for due diligence

The applicant and every participant in the application aged 18 and over are checked. We prepare separately for the mandatory interview: the same subjects are put there out loud. The first consultation takes place without handing over any documents.

  • Personal and business background

The chronology of employment, senior positions, participation in companies and public activity.

  • Current and previous citizenships

Every passport and residence permit, including those obtained under other countries’ investment programmes.

  • The source of funds

Where the particular money paying for the participation came from: the sale of a stake, dividends, salary, an inheritance.

  • The source of wealth

How the capital was built over a career — a wider picture than the origin of a single amount.

  • Banking relationships

The banks used, the history of the relationship, letters and statements for the period required.

  • Corporate structures

Shareholdings, beneficial ownership, trusts, foundations and holding companies.

  • Tax residency

The countries in which you are treated as a tax resident, and the grounds for that status.

  • Court and criminal proceedings

Current and concluded proceedings, civil disputes and tax claims included.

  • Sanctions and PEP factors

A check against the sanctions lists and the status of a politically exposed person — for you and for connected persons.

  • Adverse media

Publications in the press and in open databases that the reviewer will see and will ask about.

  • Refusals under other programmes and visas

Past refusals come up at the interview — we prepare for that question in advance rather than on the spot.

  • Information on participants aged 18 and over

The same data for every adult participant in the application, brothers and sisters included.

A complete set of documents does not mean automatic approval. The final decision is taken by the Citizenship by Investment Committee after its own check.

08 / Important before you decide

What a Grenada passport does not solve by itself

For each point we give a link to the primary source where one exists. This is the part people usually learn about after paying.

The E-2 visa to the United StatesThe right to apply is not the visa itself

Citizenship of Grenada opens the road to the E-2 investor visa through the treaty between Grenada and the United States, in force since 3 March 1989. But the passport does not issue the visa: the E-2 is applied for separately, requires a substantial investment in a real operating enterprise in the United States, is extended for as long as the business runs and does not lead to a green card automatically. The decision is taken by the US consulate under its own rules. We treat this road as a two-stage plan, not as a promise.

Source: USCIS, E-2 Treaty Investors
How complete the quotation isThe programme does not publish some of the fees officially

The published tariffs give $242 850 for one applicant under the fund. Licensed agents put the real total at around $244 500 for one applicant and around $265 450 for a family of four. We name the difference plainly and confirm the exact amount in writing before the invoice — instead of showing an attractive «from» and collecting the rest later.

Availability for particular citizenshipsApplications from citizens of Russia and Belarus are not accepted

Since 2023 the programme has not accepted applications from citizens of Russia and Belarus. The practice on other citizenships has changed and continues to change, so we confirm in writing with the licensed agent that the programme applies to your passport before any documents are prepared.

The mandatory interviewEvery applicant aged 18 and over goes through it

The interview is compulsory and is paid for separately — $1 000 per person aged 18 and over. It is held remotely, with no need to travel to the country. We prepare for it: past refusals for visas and programmes, the source of funds and the business background are all worked through.

The order in which relatives are includedFrom the fifth participant the amount depends on who they are

The contribution covers an application of up to 4 people. Beyond that the extra payment depends on the category: a brother or sister $75 000, a parent or grandparent under 55 $50 000, a parent aged 55 and over $25 000, a child $25 000. With large families the order of inclusion changes the total noticeably — we work it out before filing.

The holding period for the propertyFive years, and the resale price is not guaranteed

A share in an approved project may not be sold earlier than 5 years. «Refundable» means only that the asset stays yours: the state does not buy the property back and does not guarantee a price. A sale is an ordinary market transaction, including to the next participant in the programme.

Visa-free travelIt exists today, but it depends on the policy of third countries

The Grenada passport gives visa-free entry to roughly 148 destinations, including the Schengen area for 90 days in 180, the United Kingdom and China. At the same time the European Union’s position on Caribbean citizenship-by-investment programmes is hardening, and no one can guarantee that visa-free access will last for the whole life of the passport.

Tax residencyAn instrument of planning, not an automatic relief

Grenada does not tax worldwide income and levies no inheritance tax, but citizenship by itself does not end tax obligations in other countries and does not make the applicant a tax resident automatically. Residency is determined by the law of the particular countries and by the facts. That is separate work with a tax adviser.

A refusal by the state authorityIt is possible at any stage

The decision is taken by the Citizenship by Investment Committee. A complete file does not mean automatic approval, and no adviser can guarantee the outcome.

10 / Question and answer

Common questions about citizenship of Grenada

How does Grenada differ from the other Caribbean programmes?

It is the only one that gives the right to apply for the E-2 investor visa to the United States: a treaty on the encouragement and protection of investment between Grenada and the US has been in force since 3 March 1989. The visa itself is applied for separately and under its own rules, but without citizenship of Grenada that road is closed. The second difference is the wide family: the applicant’s brothers and sisters may be included in the application.

What does taking part cost?

The contribution to the National Transformation Fund is $235 000 for an application of up to 4 people. Property is from $270 000 for a share in an approved project, plus a government fee of $50 000 and registration of the share of $11 000. On top of that, on the published tariffs, come due diligence of $5 000 and the interview of $1 000 for everyone aged 18 and over, plus processing the application and the passports. The total under the fund is from $242 850 for one applicant.

Why is the amount given as «from»?

Because Grenada does not publish some of the fees officially. We show the calculation on the published tariffs and name plainly the total licensed agents arrive at: around $244 500 for one applicant and around $265 450 for a family of four. We confirm the exact amount in writing before the invoice is issued.

Who may be included in the application?

The applicant, the spouse, children, parents and grandparents, and also brothers and sisters — on the family Grenada is wider than its Caribbean neighbours. The contribution covers up to 4 people; beyond that the extra payment begins: a brother or sister $75 000, a parent under 55 $50 000, a parent aged 55 and over $25 000, a child $25 000.

When does property work out better than the contribution?

The difference between the fund and the property with all the fees is around $96 000. That is the price of keeping $270 000 as your asset, to come back after 5 years, rather than spending it for good. If the planning horizon is shorter than five years, or you do not want the market risk, people take the fund.

Do I have to travel to the country or live there?

No. The programme has no residence requirement, and the mandatory interview is held remotely. There is no stage at which you have to travel to Grenada.

How does the interview work?

The interview is compulsory for every applicant aged 18 and over and costs $1 000 per person. The questions cover the business background, the source of funds, the plans behind the status and any past refusals for visas and programmes. We prepare for it in advance — it is part of the work, not a formality.

Who goes through due diligence?

The applicant and every participant in the application aged 18 and over — $5 000 per person. Children under 18 are not checked and pay only the processing fee of $500 and the passport fee of $250. What is examined: the background, the citizenships, tax residency, the source of funds and of wealth, banking relationships, corporate structures, court proceedings, sanctions and PEP factors.

How long does the process take?

CBI Grenada states a processing time of 3-4 months. In BRIDGES practice the road from the first consultation to the passport takes 6-9 months: preparing the file, the checks, the interview and issuing the documents are added to the processing.

What does the E-2 visa give and what does it not?

It gives the right to live in the United States for as long as you run your own operating enterprise there, and to bring the family. It does not give a green card and does not turn into one automatically, it requires a substantial and real investment in a business rather than the purchase of property, and it ends together with the business. The decision on the visa is taken by the US consulate — citizenship of Grenada opens the possibility of applying but does not guarantee the outcome.

Are applications accepted from citizens of Russia and Belarus?

No, since 2023 the programme has not accepted applications from citizens of Russia and Belarus. Availability on other citizenships is confirmed in writing with the licensed agent before any documents are prepared.

Is the citizenship passed to children?

Yes, the citizenship is inherited: a child born after the status is obtained is registered by descent, without a new investment.

Which documents evidence the source of funds?

The set depends on where the capital came from. Usually it is the contracts and documents for the sale of a stake or an asset, dividend resolutions and statements, income certificates and tax returns, documents on an inheritance or a gift, bank statements for the period required with explanations of large transactions, and evidence of the ownership structure of the business. The first consultation takes place without handing over any documents.
