Client's Story
Where they started
The client chose the most accessible investment threshold pathway for Italy's investment residence permit—an investment of €250,000 in an innovative startup registered in a special registry. He had the capital, he had the business idea, and he believed this would be sufficient.
Why the standard route did not work
The problem emerged at the documentation stage. The business plan prepared for him earlier was drafted in generic terms: vague language, an unclear business model, nothing demonstrating the project's innovation. Yet innovation is the cornerstone of this pathway: the startup must qualify as innovative, and the plan must convincingly demonstrate this.
What BRIDGES had to solve
With a weak plan, the application risked stalling: the evaluation board might not recognize the innovative component that justifies the preferential threshold. The capital was ready, but without proper documentation it could not substantiate the visa status.
Why a standard answer would not do
The client came to BRIDGES when he realized the issue lay not in the amount but in how the project was described and justified. Our task was to restructure the business plan to meet innovation criteria and advance the application.
I thought the main thing was to invest money in the startup, and the plan was just a formality. It turned out to be the opposite: the plan was actually what was failing. They had written it to me in generic terms, and it convinced no one. Sergey and his team essentially rewrote it from scratch—they showed where the project's innovation lay, structured the business model, included figures. After that, the application moved forward. I understood that in this pathway, the document matters more than the amount.
