Where they started
Our client—an entrepreneur from the Middle East—arrived already "primed": another intermediary had promised him not just citizenship for his investment, but a "diplomatic passport" with diplomatic immunity. The idea appealed to him, and he wanted exactly that—and quickly.
Why the standard route did not work
We had to disappoint him—honestly and immediately—because behind the attractive promise lurked a dangerous myth. Investment citizenship (CBI) in any country, including Dominica, grants an ordinary citizen's passport—the same as any other citizen of that country has, with all the rights and freedom of movement. But it is not a diplomatic passport, and it does not confer diplomatic immunity.
What BRIDGES had to solve
The difference is fundamental. A diplomatic passport is issued by a state only to actual diplomats and official representatives on state missions—ambassadors, consuls, government officials. It cannot be "purchased" through investment, and immunity is official immunity in the course of duty, not a privilege for a private investor. Anyone who promises a "diplomatic passport for money" is either misleading you or offering something illegal and fictitious that will cause the client enormous problems. We explained this directly and showed that the real value of investment citizenship lies elsewhere: a strong citizen's passport, visa-free travel, a second home, and a Plan B—all of it real and legal, unlike the invented "diplomatic immunity."
