Answers to frequently
asked questions
01 /
Does Cyprus permanent residence lead to citizenship?
No. This is permanent residence: an indefinite right to live in Cyprus. A passport is not issued under the investment programme - the former passport scheme is closed. Citizenship is possible later, through naturalisation on general grounds.
02 /
What investment routes are available?
Four, each with a threshold of 300,000 euros. A new home from a developer on first sale - VAT is added to the price. Other property: an office, shop, hotel or similar asset, resale allowed. Capital of a Cypriot company with real presence and at least five employees. Units in a Cypriot investment fund, with the money held in Cyprus.
03 /
How much are the government fees?
The application fee is 500 euros, charged once for the whole family regardless of how many people it includes. The registration fee is 70 euros per person, if that document is not yet held. There is no separate fee for the permission allowing a foreigner to buy property.
04 /
What income has to be proven?
Per year: 50,000 euros for the main applicant, plus 15,000 for a spouse and 10,000 for each dependent minor child. The income is proven with documents - it is a programme requirement, not a cost.
05 /
Who can be included in the application?
A spouse and minor children, in a single application together with the main applicant. An adult child aged 18-25 files a separate application, and the required investment multiplies: 600,000 euros with one such child and 900,000 with two.
06 /
How long is the status granted for?
The right of residence is indefinite. An adult card is renewed every ten years. The route must be maintained: selling the asset without a qualifying replacement ends the status.
07 /
What is not included in the calculation?
VAT on a new home, stamp duty, contract registration and the transfer fee - these depend on the type and price of the asset, and the exact amount comes from the official transaction statement. Also outside the calculation: bank charges, insurance, medical certificates, translations, notary work and document delivery - all per invoice.
08 /
Do I need to live in Cyprus?
You do not need to live there permanently, but the status must be maintained with visits: the visit rule is checked when the card is renewed. The exact conditions are confirmed before filing for your situation.
We will review your situation, check your family composition and starting data, refine the budget and propose a suitable route for the application.
