Do I need to travel to Vanuatu?
No, there is no need to travel. The application is handled remotely: the oath is taken over video link and the finished passport is delivered by courier. There is no residence requirement before or after citizenship is granted.

Does the Vanuatu passport give access to the Schengen area?
No. Visa-free access to the Schengen area was withdrawn in December 2024. If entry to Europe matters to you, Caribbean programs or a European residence permit are the more sensible route. We will help you choose.

Can I keep my current citizenship?
Yes. Vanuatu allows dual citizenship, so there is no need to give up your existing passport. What remains is to check the rules of your own country - not every state recognises a second citizenship.

Is the contribution refundable?
It depends on the option. Under the DSP program the contribution is not refunded - it is a targeted contribution to the state development fund. Under the Coconut Oil Fund $50,000 is returned after 5 years; the terms and the refund procedure are fixed in the contract before payment.

What happens if the application is refused?
The decision is made by a government commission, so a refusal is possible in principle. It is usually linked to circumstances in the applicant's background, which is why we run a preliminary check before filing and only take the case on if we see no risk.

How long is the passport valid?
The Vanuatu passport is issued for up to 5 years and is then renewed. Citizenship itself is granted for life and does not need renewing.

Who can be included in one application?
The applicant, a spouse, children under 18, children aged 18-25 and parents over 50; in certain cases other dependent relatives as well. The contribution is calculated on the total number of people in the application: the base composition covers up to four, children under 18 are included without a separate surcharge, and every fifth applicant adds $26,500.

How long does the process take?
Roughly 2-3 months from the moment the full set of documents is filed. What usually takes longest is not the review but collecting certificates on the applicant's side, which is why we send the document list together with the quote.

What does the quoted cost include?
The government contribution, the background-check fee, the Vanuatu birth certificate and local ID, biometric passports, translations with notarisation and apostille, and legal support from BRIDGES Global. The final amount is fixed by contract.

Which documents will be needed?
A valid international passport, a certificate of no criminal record, proof of the source of funds, birth and marriage certificates - each applicant has their own list. The full checklist arrives together with the personal quote.
